NEED

The Rockhampton Ring Road aims to resolve a number of challenges for transport infrastructure through Rockhampton, including safety, efficiency and reliability.

It is the key piece of road infrastructure recommended in the Fitzroy River Floodplain and Road Planning Study (December 2011), which investigated long-term solutions for Bruce Highway flooding impacts on road and rail transport in and around the city of Rockhampton.

PROPOSAL

The Rockhampton Ring Road project is a proposed upgrade of the Bruce Highway around the Rockhampton central business district. This major infrastructure project within the Central Queensland region will improve freight efficiency, safety, flood resilience and job opportunities, as well as improve connectivity between key employment and residential growth areas of Rockhampton.
